I suppose all my readers are familiar with “ WINDOW MANAGERS “.To be frank,  a window manager is the mostly used software in our day to day life with our Computers. Alas!… I am not trying to give you an introduction to Window Managers, but to introduce a window manager which I felt ” AWESOME “.

Awesome is mainly intended to be used by Developers and all those users who need fine grained control on their graphical environment.Awesome, which works on command line, is written as a frame work using the Lua Programming Language and is released under GNU GPLv2 License. Developers deals with many applications concerning their development in their day to day life. Awesome is a highly customisable window manager which can help all developers and all those users who admire Terminal or lives in Terminal.

Awesome is available on repositories of almost all the GNU/Linux Distros.

Debian users run the following command to install Awesome :

# apt-get install awesome

RPM users may have to add a repository named rpmfusion.(HOW TO adding rpmfusion was mentioned in an earlier topic concerning addition of multimedia in Fedora 10)

# yum install awesome
